FACIO ARTIFACTS (Pam Patterson and Leena Raudvee) ARTIFACTS (Pam Patterson and Leena Raudvee) invite you to join us in our new installation, FACIO, at Gallery 1313 in the Process Gallery on May 18-19 from 1-6pm. It will be 2 days of performance and conversation. May 8-19, 2019 Gallery 1313, Process Gallery, 1313 Queen St. W., Toronto FACIO, as Latin word and exhibition title, refers to both the action of work and that which is made. ARTIFACTS as performance company has, for over 30 years, engaged in practices that are both time-based and that produce objects. This confluence of the making and the made rest as concept for this exhibition in the Process Gallery at Gallery 1313. ARTIFACTS, formed in 1983 by Pam Patterson and Leena Raudvee, produces feminist collaborative works which combine the concerns of art and theatre; they have fused these traditions into a unique hybridity. Ever cognizant of gender politics and cultural normalization, ARTIFACTS engages in deconstructing various contemporary societal issues by exploring women’s bodies across speculative edges and in liminal spaces. While concentrating on performance, ARTIFACTS has also created video and visual exhibitions. Research-in-process and doing-as-action define their practice. Special thanks to Miklos Legrady who photo-documented Pentimenti, the ARTIFACTS performance/installation on which FACIO is based. Pam Patterson and Leena Raudvee, ARTIFACTS accommodates and rejects, deconstructs and reassembles art’s questions as an infinite horizon of diverse acts of autonomy. |
